Jim comes to Digital Promise from Apple, Inc., where he was a Senior Specialist and Development Manager as well as the National Senior Manager of Professional Development. Jim’s career at Apple included working in a wide variety of large and small urban, suburban, and rural school districts, and on many laptop and tablet one-to-one projects. Prior to his work at Apple, Jim owned a consulting business that provided professional development, software development, peer coaching and change management consulting in the area of education technology. Jim taught middle and high school social studies and was a technology coordinator. Jim recently received his Ed.D. from North Carolina State University with a focus on the effect of adult learning theory on educator professional development and technology adoption models. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in history from the University of Tennessee and Appalachian State University, respectively, and studied doctoral-level curriculum and instructional technology at the University of Texas at Austin.
