Operation Outbreak empowers students and society to positively shape the course of outbreaks through innovative, immersive, and technology-driven learning experiences. By underscoring the whole-of-society approach needed to fight outbreaks, Operation Outbreak aims to equip communities with the knowledge and tools needed to combat outbreaks effectively, big or small.
At the heart of Operation Outbreak is an experience featuring a mobile app (iOS and Android) that spreads a fictional pathogen via Bluetooth across participating phones, offering a low-stakes simulation of a high-stakes scenario. Digital Promise is seeking educator partners to participate in either The Level 1 (Core) or Level 2 (Enhanced) and engage in a series of feedback loops with learning scientists and the Operation Outbreak teams in a Research Practice Industry Partnership.
What is a Research-Practice-Industry Partnership (RPIP)?
An RPIP brings together school districts, researchers, and industry partners to collaboratively explore and improve educational practices using innovative tools. Digital Promise regularly partners with education technology developers eager to study the usability and feasibility of their products. Participating districts receive early access to emerging technologies and play a vital role in their development.
