About

The Instructional Coaching for Tech-Enhanced Approaches in Mathematics (iCoachTEAM) program is hosting the 2026 iCoachTEAM Summer Institute on June 2-4, 2026, in Oak Park, Illinois. This professional development institute is designed for coaches, teachers, and administrators focused on improving math instruction.

The iCoachTEAM initiative provides high-quality professional learning centered on strengthening math instruction through the effective use of technology. The institute focuses on promoting conceptual understanding and conducting formative assessment, with resources specifically designed to support students performing below grade level in mathematics.

While our examples at the institute will focus on middle school math, the strategies learned are relevant to coaching and teaching across K-12.

The iCoachTEAM Summer Institute will provide training on how to:

  • Utilize iCoachTEAM's math-focused resources to support instructional improvement.
  • Apply principles of high-quality math instruction, emphasizing conceptual understanding and formative assessment.
  • Integrate technology effectively to enhance high-quality math instruction.
  • Implement research-based math instructional strategies.

Participants will also have dedicated time to connect with peers from across the country, building relationships that support ongoing collaboration and shared learning.

Application Criteria

Who should attend the iCoachTEAM Summer Institute?

The iCoachTEAM resources were originally designed for instructional coaches who work with teachers to promote high-quality math instruction. However, we have expanded our content so that the resources are valuable for teachers and administrators as well. Examples of people who would benefit from attending the Summer Institute include:

  • Instructional coaches who work with math teachers
  • Teacher leaders or others who support instructional improvement in math, such as those who lead math departments or Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
  • Administrators who support teachers who teach math and/or math coaching programs
  • Math teachers who are interested in implementing high-quality math instruction

NOTE: The 2026 iCoachTEAM Summer Institute is open to participants who have NOT previously attended an institute with us. If you are a past participant, we ask that you please share this opportunity with interested colleagues.

When and where is the iCoachTEAM Summer Institute?

The institute will take place June 2-4, 2026.

  • Tuesday, June 2 and Wednesday, June 3: 9 a.m.–4:15 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 4: 9 a.m.–3:15 p.m.
  • A 75-minute break for lunch will be provided each day.

All sessions will be held at the The Carleton of Oak Park Hotel.

What costs will be covered by the iCoachTEAM project?

All food and hotel costs are fully covered. In addition, participants who attend the full three-day institute will receive a $60/hour stipend for 17 hours of participation (6 hours on June 2 and 3, and 5 hours on June 4). Please note that transportation costs are the responsibility of participants or their districts.
