Many districts are facing an urgent challenge right now to address the needs of the fastest growing population of school age children in the United States: newcomer students (those with limited and interrupted formal education - immigrants and refugees).
We want to hear from you! How is your district serving your newcomer population? What are your current practices? What challenges are you facing? What resources can you share? What additional resources do you need?
Digital Promise’s Center for Inclusive Innovation (CII) and Global Cities Education Network (GCEN) are hosting a series of focus groups to help us answer these questions. We are inviting superintendents, district leaders, teachers, community members and students to join us in these discussions.
Your insight will inform a new implementation cohort on educating newcomer students, set to launch in fall 2025, for members of the League of Innovative Schools, GCEN, and other school districts across the country.
