Are there any COVID-related safety requirements that I need to adhere to?
In accordance with current trends and comparable events, we are updating our safety requirements for the League Spring 2023 Convening. Convening attendees will no longer need to submit proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (or medical/religious exemption) or a proof of a negative COVID-19 test in order to attend the convening. We encourage all attendees to wear masks while indoors. We are also asking all convening attendees to adhere to the Health Pledge.
What will the weather be like?
Temperatures in Birmingham, Alabama, for late April are typically in the mid-70s to mid-80s. While the weather looks fairly warm, we recommend packing a sweater as meeting rooms tend to be cold.
What hotel are we staying at, and what time should I check in and out?
The hotel for the convening is the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel (2101 Richard Arrington Jr Blvd N, Birmingham, Alabama, 35203). Check-in time is 4 p.m. ET, and check-out time is 11 a.m. ET.
Is there parking available at the hotel?
On-site self parking is available at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel for $28/day. Valet parking is available for $38/day.
How should I plan to get from the airport to the hotel?
Rideshare
Rideshare applications like Lyft and Uber offer pickup and drop-off transportation service for passengers at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth Airport (BHM). The estimated cost for rideshare to and from the airport and hotel are about $15-20, one way.
Passengers who have requested rides through the Lyft and Uber apps should follow signs for ground transportation and baggage claim. When ready, walk outside and look for “Passenger Pickups.”
Please wait to request your ride until after you’ve claimed your luggage at baggage claim.
Please use the designated crosswalks to the passenger pickup area and be aware of vehicle traffic in the area.
Ride app drivers are not allowed to solicit customers, and payment is made within the mobile app.
Rides may only be requested through the mobile apps.
Before you get into a ride app vehicle, make sure the license plate, car make and model, and driver name match what is in the app.
Taxicabs
Taxicabs are readily available and provide service to the Birmingham metro area and surrounding counties. Some companies may also provide service to other destinations within the state of Alabama. Check with your taxicab company of choice (or with your driver at the airport) for more information on fares and destinations served. More information can be found here.
